
Gerri
L. Goodman, M.D. was one of the first ophthalmologists to perform refractive
eye surgery in the United States. She is a corneal specialist, recognized
nationally as an authority and teacher of advanced refractive surgery
techniques, including Excimer laser, keratomileusis, and radial keratotomy.
Dr. Goodman received her Doctor of Medicine at Yale University School
of Medicine. Following residency at the University of North Carolina,
she completed the prestigious Fellowship in Corneal Diseases at Wilmer
Institute at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. She has been in private practice
since 1989, and is currently affiliated with Johns Hopkins Hospital,
Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC) and Sinai Hospital.
As one of the most experienced laser refractive surgeons in the world,
Dr. Goodman has used her clinical and laboratory expertise to further
develop and improve upon refractive procedures, including laser-assisted
keratomileusis (LASIK) and astigmatic keratotomy and photorefractive
astigmatic keratotomy (PARK). She has been performing Excimer laser
surgery since
its early development in 1989, and has served as a clinical investigator
for the Excimer laser companies VISX, Inc., and Lasersight Technologies,
Inc.
