Cosmetic dentistry includes any procedure that enhances the beauty of your
smile and lifts your self-esteem. This can include any or all of the fantastic
services we can offer. From the simple reshaping of a tooth to more extensive
crowns or veneer techniques we can make all your wishes become a reality.

Crowns
Crowns (caps) are an area of tremendous improvement today. Have
you seen people with dark crowns or black lines at the gums? With advanced
porcelains and lab skills we no longer have to make metal based crowns.
All porcelain crowns are indistinguishable from a natural tooth. With
these newer materials and the expertise to do the artistry, crowns
can and do look like beautiful natural teeth.
White Fillings
Many people are rejecting the use of silver amalgam in
their mouth for either a perceived health concern or for looks. We no
longer restore
with silver amalgam In our office. Dentistry has better materials to
use, in your mouth today, that are kinder to your oral structures. There
are two types of white fillings used. The first are plastic white fillings
that are completed in the office in one visit. There cost is higher than
a silver amalgam filling but can last as long. The second method is a
laboratory made white restoration, which is referred to as either an
inlay or an onlay. They have a beautiful look within the tooth and many
times are indistinguishable from the natural remaining tooth. An inlay
(or onlay) allows us to preserve more of the natural tooth surface. They
are bonded into the preparation and on a microscopic level become a part
of the tooth -- thus strengthening a tooth that had been weakened by
decay. The white fillings can be done as you upgrade your dentistry.
Tooth Whitening
Commonly referred to as tooth bleaching has been used
on teeth since the mid-70's. It is the most requested cosmetic technique.
Ten year studies
have shown bleaching to be a safe way to lighten the shade of your teeth.
Our method of lightening is called the ZOOM! system. It is a faster
more predictable system. This is an in-office treatment, which is painless
and comfortable. Teeth can be lightened 4-7 shades in one 2 hour appointment.
Cosmetic Contouring
Cosmetic contouring is the simplest cosmetic dental
procedure. Usually the edges of the upper and lower front teeth are reshaped
and contoured
to create a more pleasing smile. This does not require the use of a local
anesthetic. The improvements are seen immediately. The results are long
lasting and at a minimal cost. This treatment is ideal for those who
are basically happy with the shade of their teeth but are displeased
with the chipping or slight crowding of them.
Laminate Veneers
Modern dentistry allows us to enhance smiles which have
been compromised by chips, fractures, alignment, unsightly restorations
and discoloration.
A thin layer of porcelain or composite resin is placed over teeth to
dramatically create perfection. Malposed teeth, which previously required
years of orthodontic movement, can be straightened in as little as a
day's time with a result lasting fifteen to twenty years or more. Over
the past decade Dr. Kellner's expertise in this procedure has offered
him the opportunity to teach other dentists the art of laminate veneer
dentistry. Through the use of computer imaging we can demonstrate the
possible changes that can be made to your smile.
Implants
Implants are a titanium cylinder placed in the jawbone to imitate
a mot. A collar attached to the cylinder emerges above the gum on which
a crown (cap) can be placed. Do these substitutes work? YES. And in many
situations their ability to function rivals that of the natural tooth.
Implants can be placed in an edentulous (no teeth) situation to construct
a denture which is as solid and as comfortable as natural teeth. Individual
teeth can be restored through implants in addition to dentures. Numerous
continuing education hours must be completed to competently place and
restore implants. The use of implants aid in the control of bone shrinkage,
eating efficiency, and providing support to the facial muscles, all of
which are affected when teeth are missing. Although costly, dental implants
are one of the best treatment alternatives for people who have lost one
tooth or numerous teeth. When placed and properly maintained these substitutes
appear natural and function as well as natural teeth.
